A hidden gem of Aragatsotn: Armas winery & restaurant

It has been a couple of years that there is a hidden gem, a unique winery & restaurant in some 40 km of distance from the capital Yerevan, in the province of Aragatsotn. To get there, you will need to drive through the Ashtarak highway. When you already take a direction to this place (towards the village of Nor Yedesia), at some point, it may seem to you that you are in the middle of nowhere, as the only thing you see around is soil. However, at that point, you will notice the only sign on the narrow road in the form of a bottle on which it is written “Armas”, and that is exactly what you are looking for. Why in the form of a bottle? You will learn soon.

Even thousands of years ago, people in Armenia used to make wine, and the old wineries made of clay are proof of that fact. In Armenia, there are many factories that produce wine and you can taste them all at once if you visit Armenia on the Yerevan wine days. Otherwise try to explore the best wine corners in the town of Yerevan, and I'm sure you won't regret. As you can already guess, till our days, wine-making is very popular here, especially in the provinces of Vayots Dzor and Aragatsotn. Armas winery is located in the Aragatsotn province. It is a perfect place to grow grapes, as it gets a nice taste, which will be confirmed when you try their wines in the factory. They have different varieties of wines, such as red dry, white dry, rose, semi-sweet white and so on. Here, you can see how actually grapes are transformed into wine. This is one of the best wine companies in Armenia, and it is worth to drive that long to get familiar with the factory, but also to enjoy what offers the restaurant nearby.

The nicest thing about **Armas Restaurant **is that it is in the middle of a grape plant. I have to say that this part reminds a little bit of Italian provinces: grape plants that seem to have no end, good quality wine and an open-air restaurant where you can have an aperitif. What could be better? But besides a nice aperitif, here you can also get a proper meal, that will be delicious and nicely served. This is a great place for gatherings with friends and family. For instance, if you are in Armenia for your birthday, then this can be a nice option. Some may consider it also as a place for romantic dinners.  

There are many hidden spots like this in Armenia, and should you have time, it would be great that you explore some of them. Those are places that are not well-known and much visited.
