Limassol is the second largest urban area in Cy[prus after Nicosia](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/a-cultural-stroll-in-larnaca-wzs3). It is located on the southern coast of Cyprus and it is the capital of the homonymous district. It has been ranked by TripAdvisor as the 3rd upcoming destination in the world. Also, Limassol has been ranked 89th worldwide in "Mercer´s Quality and living survey". As you can imagine, Limassol offers a great quality of life both to the locals and its visitors.
Like every location in Cyprus, Limassol is also famous for its quality food and of course, its always shining sun. For these reasons, there's no doubt why Limassol is one of the most preferable destinations worldwide.
The food in Limassol is as tasty as it is in every other part of Cyprus. Every place offers Greek and Cypriot cuisine and this is what makes Cyprus different; the base of our dishes is mostly Greek cuisine, but the Cypriots have elaborated and added small tasty details, making their cuisine that way even more unique!
Tasty food can be found everywhere in the area, both in the mountainous and in coastal areas. If you are a city lover then don´t miss to visit the "Katoi" restaurant.
Particularly known among the locals, "To Katoi" is a restaurant that makes a lot of references to the Medieval traditions in Limassol. "To Katoi" is very well hidden, since you have to walk into narrow alleys and through traditional stone-built houses, so as to discover it. It is located in the village of Omodos and it is a restaurant that carries the tradition of several centuries.
The restaurant is housed in an old building with large arches in its dining area, carved stones on the walls and a traditional fireplace, which is mainly used during the wintertime. The building counts almost 500 years of construction. Due to the stones and the way that it is constructed, the restaurant can host visitors during winter and summer time.
The environment is perfect and offers a unique culinary experience. The menu includes Greek and Cypriot cuisine, giving a large range of options to pleasantly surprise its guests. Some of the dishes that you definitely need to taste when you find yourself in "To Katoi" are mousaka, orzo with wild mushrooms, beetroot salad with caramelized walnuts and yogurt sauce, as well as desserts that are all handmade, such as "anari" cheesecake- it is the most popular dessert in the restaurant as it is made with local cheese.
If you want to experience a more "elevated" taste, then your next stop should be in "Sun Valley"!
Sun Valley is a restaurant located on the highest spot of Cyprus. It can be found only one hour away from Limassol. At a 1900 meter altitude, you can breathe fresh air, enjoy nature and do some trekking in the forest. So after this long walk, you definitely need to recharge your batteries! What is better than a tasty plate of food?
The restaurant is located on the top of Olympus peak and it's popular for its amazing traditional Cypriot dishes. The place is recommended both for winter and summer seasons; however, specifically in the summertime, when the temperature in the city raises and you need a place to stay fresh and protected, this area is simply ideal!
In a daily base, you will find well-cooked dishes, from mousaka and stew to traditional so[uvlaki](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/a-guide-to-ordering-gyros-in-greece-xfr8). The portions offered are kindly big and fulfilling, so you need to be really hungry to finish the entire plate. On Sundays, they tend to cook "kleftiko", a special dish that comes out of the traditional wood oven, and meat on the spit, rotating over the fire from early on.
