The development of the spa park is closely connected with Hamm as a spa and entitled "Bad Hamm" together. 1883 they came across a brine source and decided to conduct the brine in the vicinity of the former citizens Schützenhof and build a bath house and a lodging house for celebrations, receptions or spa concerts.
The lodging house was built in 1898 following the first Schützenhalle as their head building from Iserlohn architect G. Leppin. Is representative of the narrow rectangular structure with seven axes and complex decoration in the center in cement stucco. The southern front features a little tower-like staircase.
The modern term "spa" prevailed in 1932 when the city took over the hall operation. Since 1996 it is a listed building. A glass multifunctional hall complements the architecture language of the adjacent spa house with the art deco designs. In the tradition of the spa resort concerts in 2009 received a new bandstand.
In the spa also is the salt works, which follows the old tradition of the brine bath. The produced here moist, salty air has a positive effect on the respiratory system.
