Get a glimpse of Amsterdam’s water supply and explore the nature reserve filled with sand dunes, forests, and wildlife. A great day out for the whole family!

  • The reserve has multiple entrances, with walking routes from 3km up to 30km. No cars or bikes allowed here, so make sure you’ve brought some good hiking shoes. You can get a guided nature walk or choose to follow the routes on your own, going from the forest to the dunes and down by the coast. We love variety! Nature fur-friends: Keep your eyes peeled for the reserve’s animal friends, deer and foxes! Just don’t feed them.
  • Great for all ages! The reserve makes sure to get the youngsters involved. Become a forester: 5€ gets you your own backpack filled with helpful tools for bird watching, tracking animals, and facts about deer.
  • A reserve built on a glass of water: No really, that’s how the story goes! Jacob van Lennep and his wife Henriette Roel took water from one of the dunes, realizing it was way better than that transported stuff they normally drank. From there began the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes, now a reserve visited by 800,000 nature lovers a year!
