Prepare to be entertained at one of Brussels’ most iconic music halls! Enjoy concerts of all kinds at Ancienne Belgique.

Sound check! Amps are plugged in, the singer takes the stage, and now prepare to be amazed. This is Ancienne Belgique (aka AB), Brussels’ central concert venue. If you’re an avid concert-goer, or if it’s your first time, this place is definitely worth checking out. Throughout the week they hold events for singers, bands, DJs, and other performances that are ready to entertain you!

Who can you see at AB? The concert hall showcased artists from the 60s, jazz and blues performers in the 70s, and now into the more electronic/dance music. This place has seen it all. Some of the bigger names they’ve had include Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, and Destiny’s Child - but seriously, the list goes on! This place is truly a breeding ground for artists, both old and new.

The rooms: as if one concert hall is enough! They’ve got several rooms in the building for all different ranges of events.

  • The red main hall is the biggest - it’s got a massive auditorium area where guests can crowd up close to the stage, or hang at the upper level halls on each side for a more secluded, but elevated view. Here you’ll find the bigger, more well-known acts.
  • Then there’s the club - a smaller standing room that can fit over 250 guests. You’ll find up-and-coming talent, both locally and internationally.
  • Last up is the salon, easily the most intimate out of the spaces. Only 70 people can squeeze into here, but the plus side is that most events here are free of charge! So why not try a show in all three and see which one you like best?
  • History - A historical building in Brussels means this place has seen some stuff. It served as a bank vault, nursing home, and meeting place before finally transforming into a music hall.

A friend invited me to a show here last minute, and I absolutely loved it! I was in the club room which was a bit more intimate. Great music at a great venue, I’ll for sure be returning!
