A cosy theatre in the heart of the cultural district. Lots of independent music, comedy and arts performances on offer - including local acts
Arenberg Theatre (Arenbergschouwburg) is located in Theaterbuurt aka the hotspot of theatres in Antwerp. It’s a popular area for students, food lovers, and culture seekers - you’ll be in good company! You’ll find trendy and artsy events here as well as a good bar. The theatre is fairly cosy at 800 capacity with a decent amount of legroom, so settle in for the show!
- A variety of events are on offer here including dance, theatre, bands, and comedy from the local scene.
- Arenberg also hosts special events like TedTalks and occasionally international comedians so be on the lookout for those.
- You’ll be seated in the cosy theatre. It seats about 800 people and you’ve got a choice of the stalls or balcony at the back or sides. Thankfully the balcony isn’t in an awkward spot so you’ll have a good view wherever you pick.
- Culture is always evolving. The theatre started as a banquet hall and has been renovated multiple times of the years to achieve its modern form. The sign outside even lights up in neon at night.
- You can grab a quick drink at the bar by the main hall. Good if you want something in between breaks but the theatre also has BARLOKAL where you can find local beers. If wine is more your thing then go to BARBRUT.
- Where to go before or after the show? Since you’re in the Theaterbuurt you’ve got lots to choose from! Check out the classical music and art scene at AMUZ. Or finish off you night with a walk around the botanical gardens at Plantentuin
