Cross the drawbridge and enter a 13th century castle. Tour the castle at night or come in the day for a treasure hunt and to see hawks flying above.

Bouillon Castle holds tons of history secrets behind its walls. Climb to the top for views of the town and river, then dive deep into history going into the castle torture chambers and dungeons. Drop by in the day for a family-friendly medieval time or come at night for a unique castle tour.

Castle nights: Bring a torch and a touch of courage for a nighttime of adventure in Bouillon Castle. Feel the atmosphere of the historic castle from its caves to all the major highlights you’d see in the day, but in a whole new light.

Birds of prey: watch ‘em spread their wings and fly! See the birds of prey; falcons, eagles, hawks and more in Bouillon’s Castle courtyard. The show is interactive and the falconers will give you all the deets on these birds, plus show off flight tricks. The performance happens everyday at 11:30, 14:00 and 15:30 in March to November.

Activities for the kids

  • Treasure hunt: bring the kids for a treasure hunt experience in the castle. The children go on a 2 hour guided exploration of the castle to find the hidden coat of arms. Best for big groups of kids aged 3 - 12, 50€.
  • The castle hosts lots of special events throughout the year including medieval feasts, music performances, the annual Hunting Feast to commemorate Armistice day and special Halloween events.
  • Bouillon Castle has an exhibit on how writing has evolved from the Middle Ages ‘til now mostly on the history of schooling including Middle Ages school paintings and a 20th century classroom. Interesting for history buffs and to show the kids although the Middle Ages is a bit too far for an ‘in my day’ rant.
