Explore the region of Pajottenland in the beautiful Gaasbeek area and see what these vastly green castle grounds have to offer for your next visit.
Bit of history: the 16th century castle that stands here today with its signature brick style was actually rebuilt from the original castle dated back to 1240 which was destroyed by vengeful Brussels troops. In 1980, the Flemish city owners turned the castle into a museum to share this impressive Belgian heritage.
This castle's landscape design is romantic as it is charming. In 2020, the doors were closed for some needed renovations, but a visit here without seeing the museum is still worthwhile. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon here and watch the ducks on the water in front of the small white chapel on a hill. In the springtime, bluebells pop up in the forest lining the path to the Triumphal arch which was recently restored in 2020.

The castle grounds and surrounding forest of Gaasbeek are lovely, especially when the bluebells are in bloom bringing more colour to a tall shady forest trail.
