Don't miss this amazing Gothic style cathedral, it’s not just another church! Construction took over 160 years, so you should spend a moment to admire its architecture.

This Roman-Catholic cathedral is a sight to see. Construction began in 1352 - it took 169 years to build the 123m high steeple. You can't help but be impressed by this fantastic world heritage site and the art work it has on display. Rubens, one of Belgian’s great prides, has 4 paintings on display. Two of these paintings were originally made for the cathedral. Make sure you see all of them!

  • Love contemporary art? So do we. That’s why we’re stoked the cathedral also features the contemporary art pieces like “The Man who Bears the Cross” by a local artist
  • But that’s not all. Here you’ll find a contrast between the modern and classic with Sam Dillemans’ tribute painting to Rubens.
  • Beer lovers have to try the cathedral beer - light & dark are available depending on your preference. If you have both we won't tell.
  • Enjoy your lunch and a drink in the cathedral foyer and cafe De Plek. It’s actually named after a poem by Herman De Coninck - a poet from Antwerp.
