The best views

Take a cable car ride to reach the very top of the citadel for the best views. Wanna take courage into your own hands? Climb 408 steps to the very top. The view at the end is worth it, we promise. But no matter the journey, the destination is the same. See a panoramic view 100m above the river Meuse.

It’s a 45 min round trip starting right in the city centre, along the river, to the village of Anseremme and back. Inside the Citadel: head into the Citadel of Dinant for history deets. The Citadel has seen many battles. Dinant’s first fortifications date back all the way to the 9th century. The big ol’ impressive citadel you see these days is from 1815. One highlight for history buffs is the battle of 1914 exhibit that has an interactive model of the citadel, plus info on the battles.
