Get inspired at the contemporary artsy design museum of Brussels. Discover tons of unique creations and explore the exhibits!

Modern design is a strange and sleek mix of art. The Design Museum has gathered up interesting pieces from the 20th and 21st century. This is no dusty, classical museum! Totally devoted to modern design, you’ll see everything from plastic chairs to weird looking creations.

Design Museum Brussels is just a short walk from the Atomium. Whether you’re a tourist or local, the museum is a convenient stop on your urban exploration of Brussels.

Plastic Design Collection: one of their permanent exhibits. Plastic is the norm for us now we use it in everything, right? But it wasn’t always that way. This exhibit takes you from the 1950s to today to show how plastic design has evolved. From household items to quirky art pieces, the collection is especially worth a look for art lovers.

Belgian Design: the new permanent exhibit! Enter into the world of Belgian design. Featuring design pieces by famous Belgian designers (Marcel-Louis Baugniet, Renaat Braem and more), the exhibit tells you all you need to know to get started on a deep dive into all that’s made in Belgium. The exhibit isn’t super big, but worth a look for those interested in design.

  • Temporary exhibits: Design Museum Brussels always has something fresh on. See art installations by international artists or take a seat and uncover the history of chair design. See what’s on!
  • Kid friendly: the museum does feature events and activities for families (mostly in French), especially during the school holidays. For kids aged 6+, sign up for hours of interactive design fun at the summer courses! Outside of the summer, the museum also has downloadable activities and leaflets so the kids have something to stay engaged during the museum visits.
