Closed to visitors, but still a cool sight to see. The 17th century Durbuy Castle is best seen from the outside. Centrally located right in town so you can’t miss it. Take the tourist train for a view of the castle and Ourthe Valley or make your own way to find the best angles to post on social.

Durbuy Castle is actually one of the few castles in the Ardennes to stay closed to the public. Why are it's castle doors not open? Well, it’s the private property of the Count of d'Ursel. It’s still worth dropping by while you’re in Durbuy for a closer look at this cute castle.

• Photo op: get views from the valley by taking the tourist train or get up close. The castle is right next to a bridge and river, making it pretty as a picture. Since it's closed to the public, the area is never super busy making it an easy snapshot for your trip to Durbuy.
• Bit of history: Durbuy Castle was first built in 889. The chateau we see today is one that’s built on the ruins of the old one. It’s seen a lot of war in its time, even being used by the American military as a hospital in WWI.
• Tourist train: Take the tourist train for stunning views of the Ourthe valley and Durbuy Castle. Buy tickets and catch the train from outside the hotel Le Sanglier des Ardennes in Durbuy. The 30 min train journey takes you from the city centre up to the highest point and Belvédère watchtower for a panoramic view. Adults 7€, Kids 5€.
