A survivor of two bombs, this fort is still standing. Check out a piece of Belgium’s history at the remains of this historic fort and park.

Take a step back in history for a sec. Even if you’re no history buff, you’ll be impressed by the fort that survived two V bombs and heavy fire from the German army in WWII. If you wanna see the inside of the fort, you usually have to book ahead. We still think it’s worth it to see it from outside and plus, it’s a pretty nice park.

The park is big with joggers, dog walkers and families alike. It’s a great green space with lots of play areas and events too. Have some family fun at the playground to take a break at their temporary summer/winter bar. Enjoy a breath of fresh air in this park in the middle of Mortsel, just outside of Antwerp.

  • The park is always open, but you have to go on a tour to get inside the fort by emailing them to request a tour. The tours last about 2 hours and are in Dutch
  • Fort 4’s park is super popular in the summer and winter because of Bar Brial. It’s a temporary bar that has fun vibes. Perfect for a drink after walking around the fort
  • Events: Flea markets, open-air movie nights, and comedy events all happen here.
  • Right as you enter the fort you’ll see an exhibition all about its history even before WWII
