**Ghent’s red light district. Ghent’s Glass Alley lit up by neon lights is worth a snap when walking through the city **
Famous as an adult attraction, Glass Alley is a small alleyway and part of the red light district of Ghent. The alley has windows on both sides where you’ll see the sex workers lit by neon lights at night. Tourists often walk through Glass Alley as a point of curiosity. Obviously, it’s less busy during the day and we recommend going in the evening to see Ghent's red light district fully lit up for an interesting photo spot.
Glass Alley has a pretty long history. It was first built on the Pieter Vanderdoncktdoorgang in the 1840s and then extended a few decades later. Glass Alley was used as a shopping gallery at first, but quickly gained a reputation for what it's still known for today. The surrounding streets (Pieter Vanderdoncktdoorgang and Belgradostraat) are also part of the red light district but are not as picturesque.
