Turn the pages of history at this 15th century library. They have over a million books to browse and a limited access reading room. The library is only open to the public on special events - those are well worth checking out too
Welcome to the heart of literature in Antwerp. This library is named after Hendrik Conscience, who’s basically the father of Flemish literature. They house over a million books in the Baroque style building. Basically, this library is so steeped in the dark academia aesthetic that you’ll feel like you’re in another world.
Their main collection covers everything about Dutch literature, local folklore, works about Antwerp, plus history and art of the Netherlands. The vast majority of these books are in Dutch! Even if you can’t read Dutch wandering down this library is still a treat.
The library is only open to the public during exhibitions and lectures. They’ve done lectures and events on everything from social media to Flemish literature.
