**Stroll, run or cycle around the beautiful park with the added bonus of modern sculptures around you **

If you’re anything like us then you like a good walk in the park. Middelheim Museum is a unique experience since it actually has contemporary sculptures all around the park. So grab your walking shoes and get out there - this artsy park & museum is a must-see in Antwerp.

  • Middelheim has about 400 works of art, and over 200 sculptures. Lots and lots to see!
  • Some of the sculptures are hidden behind or in the nature of the park. It’s not everyday to you get see art & nature blending so well
  • Middelheim features a regular modern art collection (in the last 100 years) but also has temporary exhibits featured in the garden sometimes so check ahead to see what’s happening
  • The sculptures aren’t just there to look good, though! You’ll be learning something new as each piece of art has an explanation included
  • The park itself is actually very pretty! Landscape architect Michel Desvigne designed the west side of park, so it’s sleeker than you’d expect with sculptures from the 60/70s
  • Want to see more? Head over to the Collection Pavillion for more artsy goodies
  • Walking around can get tiring. Thankfully Middelheim has a lovely cafe slap bang in the middle so you can catch a break; nearby you also have a few lovely options at Castle Den Brandt
  • This area is teeming with more greenery! Both Castle Den Brandt and Nachtegalen Park are right next door. So if you’re keen on a long run, walk or bike ride, you can go right on to the next one to explore some gorgeous forestry.
  • Castle Den Brandt has a small but charming park; it has a play area, herb garden and bunker museum. Need more parks in your life? Check out Park Spoor Noord for tons of summer fun

Maybe not for kids: some sculptures feature nudity, including one unusual yet typically Belgian sculpture of a man peeing on himself. For our European friends, probably not a big deal! Tourists from further out may need to give some explanations to the kids.
