Enter the Renaissance-style Ooidonk Castle to see a lived-in home of Belgian nobility. Elegant, stylish and unique, Ooidonk Castle and gardens are a sight to see.
Stroll the grounds of the moated castle just a short drive away from Ghent. Ooidonk Castle (Dutch: “Kasteel van Ooidonk”) has a long history to discover and rich views to see. Destroyed in the 1500s, then rebuilt by Antwerp merchant Martin della Faille (one of the richest men of Europe back then). Rebuilt in the style of the Renaissance, Ooidonk Castle itself is open for visitors in the summer. The castle grounds (and French garden) are always open for visitors.
Home to Count and Countess t’Kint de Roodenbeke and their family. Sometimes visiting a castle can feel like seeing a historical showroom, but Ooidonk is unique in still being a lived-in noble home.
