A small but cute neighbourhood with cobblestone streets and independent shops. Close to Gravensteen (Castle of the Counts) that makes a historic atmosphere
Sink your teeth into the medieval heart of Ghent. Discover little cafes, local food, shops and more along the architectural gem of Patershol
Patershol’s cobblestone neighbourhood has been around since the 15th century. Back in the ol’ days, textile workers that kept Ghent’s economy in style lived here. These days, Ghent locals and travellers to the city spend at least 30 mins here exploring the side streets of Ghent’s history.
Close to the Castle: while other neighbourhoods in Ghent also have cobblestone streets and a history, none are as close to the famous Gravensteen (Castle of the Counts). That makes Patershol the perfect side stop along the way to the castle to get started on your history walk.
Foodie Must-See: foodies and hungry tourists will have a great time selecting from all the variety Patershol offers. Travel from Belgium, to Japan to Spain on a plate. Lots of restaurants and cafes to try out here.
Getting There
Patershol is easily reached on foot or by public transport. Via car, you’re best off parking a little outside the city and walking in.
