This neoclassical museum is a good spot for classical art lovers.

This is a beautiful building in its own right and after a long-awaited renovation period - it's finally ready to be visited by the public once again! The 19th-century neoclassical design is by Jacob Winters and Frans van Dijik. It’s a grand structure with columns on the front and great sculptures on the top. The reopening date has yet to be decided, but you can follow along their renovation journey on their website.

• The museum holds a collection of art including paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
• You can still find some of the pieces that used to be displayed here throughout Antwerp. They’re on loan at the Cathedral of Our Lady and the Rockox House
• The sculptures on the top of the building are by Thomas Vincotte. They’re lovely horse-drawn carriages and make a striking image along with the pond at the front. Try to get a photo from the front for the full effect.
• The museum is in the Zuid district. This basically means that there’s still plenty for you to do in and around the museum as well. Consider this a spot along the way!
• You’ve got the photography museum FOMU and the contemporary art museum M HKA a short walk away, so head over to those to enjoy some great art collections.
