Travel through Ghent’s long history. From the 1300s to now, Ghent has so much history it’s hard to know where to start. Head over to STAM to get started on your Ghent discovery.

New to Ghent? Head over to STAM - Ghent’s City Museum to see the map of the city from above. Then, get a cool history lesson on this started and where it might just go in the future. Locals and Belgians have lots to learn here too, since STEM is packed full of local history you probably didn’t know before.

STAM is an interactive museum with tons of moving displays too. Check out the models of famous symbols of the city Gravensteen Castle and St. John’s Church, plus animated images that really bring Ghent to life.

Popular Sights: the story of Ghent is a permanent exhibit and usually a favourite of visitors. Also don’t miss the LEGO towers of Ghent. You can even try building your own LEGO towers or add to what’s already there.

Ghent’s Story: behind every city is a story. Discover the past of Ghent from female entrepreneurs, stuffy abbots to Middle Age rebels. Ghent’s got all kinds of stories hidden away, ready for you to discover on a journey through a 14th century abbey, 17th century covenant, and yes a 21st century museum too.
