We’re not pulling your strings, promise. This is the last traditional puppet theatre of Brussels. For a taste of the capital's unique culture, a visit to the puppet theatre should be on your list. Sip a beer in the puppet themed bar or book your tickets to the theatre. Some classics you can expect to see on the list are Dracula, The Three Musketeers, and Romeo & Juliet.

Unless otherwise noted, the puppet shows are in French. If they’re not in French, they’re usually in Dutch. Even if you’re not fluent in either language, these are classic stories you can recognise so you’ll get the idea anyway. We do have to say that fluent French speakers will have the best experience, though!

• Each show lasts around 2 hours, including intermission.
• The puppet theatre has 144 seats and shows are on rotation. It’s a smallish theatre, so it’s a pretty intimate experience. Seats aren’t numbered, so you can sit wherever you want.
• The bar is on the first floor and is indeed heavily puppet themed. There’s puppets above you, on the walls, and props all around. If you’re looking for a unique bar in Brussels, we’ve gotta recommend this one.
• Back in the day, Brussels had about 50 puppet theatres. The art has slowly died out, but Toone has kept the tradition alive.
