Mosteiro de Nossa Senhora de Conceição de Macaúbas

This 305 year old monastery was the first women's retirement home in the captaincy of Minas Gerais. Its initial purpose was to educate girls on religious principles and teach them how to read, write, sew etc., so girls were prepared for a good marriage.
