Rila Monastery (Rilski manastir)

The Rila monastery, or Rilski manastir, the Latin transcription of its name in Bulgarian, is the biggest monastery complex in the country. Established in 10th century A.D. by Saint Ivan of Rila, it still functions as a sacred religious place, attracting numerous visitors every year.
