DOX is the largest independent institution in the Czech Republic focusing on contemporary art. The space that was once a factory now holds temporary art exhibitions, a bookstore, a chic design store, a fine art archive, a bistro, and a cafe with an outdoor terrace. They are famously known for the Gulliver Airship, a 42m long and 10m wide structure made of wood and steel that was inspired by the shapes of the giant airships that began to cruise the skies at the dawn of the twentieth century. The Airship sits on the rooftop of the DOX building, where visitors can go inside or join in on discussions that are often held there. The centre holds various events year round and in the warmer months, screens films on the roof. There is also a designated area for children and often activities or workshops available for them. The modern and hip gallery is located in the great area of Holešovice with easy access to other interesting sites.
