**A baroque-style building from the 1830s, now home to a cultural center for the community. **
Invalidovna is a jewel of Baroque Czech architecture and a historical landmark in Prague's Karlin district. It was designed by architect Kilian Ignaz Dienzenhofer, though only a fraction of the initial design was completed. The original concept, which was 9x the size of what Invalidovna is today, was to provide accommodation for war veterans and essentially be a small, self-sufficient. Still, Invalidovna as it stands currently is one of the largest Baroque complexes in Prague and all of the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic. In 2019, The National Heritage Institute opened this exceptional national monument to the public for all to enjoy! It is now not only a beautiful building to gaze at, but also a space for creative and cultural events, workshops, and often even serves as a filming location for film and photography shoots. In the west wing, it houses Studio Alta: a very cool cafe and cultural center with a community garden. They often hold theatre and dance performances, art exhibits and more!
