Ready to take in the best view of Liberec? Ještěd is the highest mountain peak in the city!

From the top of Ještěd you will be able to see 3 different countries! Yup, Czech of course, Germany, and Poland. All from the top of this famous lookout point. At the top of the mountain you can find the famous Ještěd TV tower. On a clear sunny day you can even see the TV tower from Prague. What’s with Czech Republic and it’s famous TV towers?

Just like Prague has it’s famous iconic TV tower that is considered to be one of the ugliest buildings in the world and stands out, Ještěd stands out in Liberec as well and can be seen from almost any house or apartment in the city because of how high above the city it is.

If you’re looking for a nice adventure you can hike up to this iconic building. If you’re looking for more of a joy ride then take the cable car to the top where panoramic views await.

  • Ještěd was opened on the 21st of September 1973. It has a height of 94 meters so it makes sense why it can be seen from everywhere.
  • We don’t know why, but TV towers in the Czech Republic have quite strange shapes and Ještěd is described as a “rotational hyperboloid”...what on earth is that, right? You’ll just have to see for yourself. But basically the shape of Ještěd is created to sustain extreme climate conditions.
  • Ještěd is famous for its outdoor activities. You can rent scooters and cruise around the area, attempt to ride your bike from the bottom to the top, or even rent some skis and go down the ski hill during winter!
  • Inside the TV tower, there are a few floors. On the first floor you will be able to find a machine room, technical equipment room, and operations room. On the second floor is where you’ll be able to find the lunchroom, hotel, and terrace with a picturesque view of the city.
