Enjoy some urban revitalization at Náplavka, one of Prague’s newest shopping hot spots!

Before the urban revitalization, Náplavka has always been known for its regular and sometimes themed markets that would take place on the waterfront next to the Vltava River. In the past few years though, Náplavka has really been transforming into a place where people can come daily for entertainment, education, and food.

The waterfront has now been slightly transformed over the past few years. The most visible thing being the massive rotating glass doors that are now the entrance to the many new “caves” where businesses can open up as pop up shops or long term businesses or restaurants.

You’ll experience something new every time you visit Náplavka. Some shops will be the same and some will change. You will most likely always be able to find a coffee shop but many of the art exhibits are ever changing. It’s always a fun surprise to see which small businesses are occupying the “caves”.

  • The glass doors themselves are quite fascinating to look at. They are very unique entry portals into the caves. They are actually the largest hinged windows of their kind in the world. Who knows maybe this trend will continue around other cities in the world that have similar waterfronts.
  • In total there are 20 cubicles/caves on both sides of the Vltava River. From cafes, restaurants, shops, and even toilets.
