The largest art institution in the Czech Republic, showcasing impressive works from some of the most renowned artists of all time in a modern environment.
National Gallery Prague is the largest art institution in the Czech Republic! Their 399,000 collection items contain exquisite works from all time periods - with the best pieces regularly on display in both permanent and short-term exhibitions. Their collection includes works from some of the biggest names in art, such as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, lbrecht Dürer, Paul Cézanne, Edvard Munch, and Pablo Picasso. They also have an impressive collection from renowned Czech artists, like Václav Hollar, Josef Václav Myslbek, Toyen, František Kupka, and Adriena Šimotová. The National Gallery Prague hosts exhibitions in seven buildings in the city centre! Formerly intended for trade fairs, The Trade Fair Palace, a gem of Czech Functionalist architecture, has been the seat of National Gallery Prague since the 1970s! The Gallery now offers a wide selection of programmes for the public: guided tours, lectures, discussions, seminars, art studios and courses for children and adults. After visiting, we suggest stopping in at Kolektor, their cafe that offers specialty coffee drinks, craft beers, and delicious homemade cakes! And if you happen to be visiting Prague during one of their grand openings, it's a cultural event you won't want to miss!
