What on earth is a paternoster lift? Don’t worry you’ll know everything about it in 30 seconds!
So a paternoster lift! It’s basically an elevator without a door that goes in a loop without stopping. Sound dangerous? Well, paternoster lifts used to be quite common in certain parts of Europe and Prague still has a few that are accessible to the public.
The most common lift to visit in Prague is the one located at the back of the city hall. Make your way to the city hall and jump in one of the 12 compartments that rotate around an axis in a loop.
If you’re feeling daredevil-ish then ride the paternoster all the way around past the bottom floor where it keeps going and moves sideways before it starts going up again. You’ll feel a shake, rumble, things will go dark, and eventually, the elevator will move sideways before it starts going back up. Get ready and jump off on the floor that you want. It’s basically like riding a rollercoaster except you’re in city hall instead!
