Go and explore the largest ancient castle in the world that’s right in the heart of Prague. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Perched right on top of the hill overlooking old town Prague, Charles Bridge, and the Vltava River, Prague Castle is the icon of Prague. You see it from almost anywhere in Prague. Exploring this marvellous castle makes you feel like you’re right in a fairytale.

You can get lost for hours walking around the many beautiful courtyards, exploring the gardens, or taking an actual tour inside the castle. It’s really up to you how long you want to explore the castle grounds for. There are restaurants, cafes, and shops all along the castle grounds where you can spend a full day popping in and out of different historical buildings.

  • The St Vitus Cathedral from the outside is absolutely stunning but the inside is twice as beautiful.
  • Golden Lane: walk around the grounds until you find the famous Golden Lane. A narrow cobblestone street with cute shops that were once small houses home to the castle servants and goldsmiths.
  • Since there are so many landmarks and exhibits it’s worth planning to spend a full afternoon exploring the area because you don’t want to miss a thing.
  • Local beer: check out the restored 17th-century brewery. Strahov Monastery Brewery makes delicious craft beer. A great place to sit back and relax while roaming around the castle grounds.
  • Prague Castle was recently nominated as the most Instagrammable castle in the world! If that doesn’t give you an incentive to visit then we don’t know what will ;)
