Get the real taste of Prague at Staropramen Brewery, the most famous brewery in Prague!

If there’s a proper way to take in Prague then it’s by drinking the local beer made right in the city! Staropramen has been around since 1869. Located in the heart of the old industrial part of Prague, Staropramen has always been considered the “working man's” beer since it was usually one of the cheapest out of the lot for local standards.

This short little tour will show a few videos about the history of the beer and the importance of beer to the Czech Republic. If you didn’t know already, the Czech’s consume the most beer per capita in the world. They sure do love their beer!

At the end of the short tour, you will be able to sample one of the beers and then see if your taste buds agree and hang around and have a few more. The food is great and the beer is quite cheap so it’s a great place to spend a few hours trying the different types of beers they have on tap.

  • There are also longer tours where you learn about the whole process from start to finish including sampling 4 different beers. We do recommend it if you have more time but the quick 30-minute tour with the 1 beer sample is definitely well worth your time if you have a packed schedule.
  • Inside the Staropramen Visitor Center, you will be able to find a shop with all sorts of different beer glasses. One thing that makes all beers in Czech so different and unique are the glasses they’re served in. Makes for a fun souvenir collection!
  • Staropramen is actually the second-largest beer producer in the Czech Republic. Only behind the famous Pilsner Urquell which of course is one of the most famous beers in the world.
