But the North Bohemian Museum is more than a local museum. Here, you’ll discover tons of photos and items from the world wars and Communist regime. See authentic, real history in photographs and postcards.

  • Unique: On the lowest floor you will find Metelka's Christmas crib. It is three and a half meters wide and fitted with 250 wooden figures. More than a third of these figures are movable. It is a legacy of the art of making Christmas cribs from the western Krkonoše.
  • Everything from photographs and objects from the world wars to the end of the communist regime in Czech can be found inside the museum. It’s crazy thinkin most of this history is still less than 100 years old. It wasn’t that long ago that Russians and Germans occupied Czech Republic.
  • The museum is wheelchair friendly as well since they try to accompany everyone. The entrance for wheelchairs can be accessed on the back side of the museum by the park.
  • In case there wasn’t enough in the museum already there is even a library inside the building!
