Kuressaare Castle is located on Saaremaa Island in western Estonia. The castle dates to at least the 1380s when it was built by the Teutonic Order as part of their crusading mission. The Kuressaare Castle is one of the best preserved medieval fortifications in Estonia, and today is home to the Saaremaa Museum. Picture © Credits to istock/fotoman-kharkov
