Located halfway between Scotland and Iceland in the Atlantic ocean, the Faroe Islands are an archipelago of 18 islands mainly mountainous, with a population of 50,000. As many locals would say, the Faroe Islands are the essence of the "North" and the place to fall in love with the "North".  
The Faroe Islands offer a great variety of experiences in nature – from dramatic landscapes meeting the wild ocean to the peacefulness of the mountains to the green pastures filled with sheep. Both the land and the ocean are the places to be: hiking, climbing, rafting, canoeing, camping, swimming, diving… if you are the adventurous type, this is the place to be. Red houses and mountain huts pop up here and there and they just add a perfect human touch to the islands’ wild nature.
Being on small islands far from the continent, will give you a feeling of freedom, of uniqueness and separation from the "rest of the world ".

Capital of Faroe Islands (located on the Streymoy island), this is where almost half of the Faroese population lives. Don’t forget that this is a rather small capital town compared to other countries.
