Exhibitions at Turku Art Museum provide a fascinating panorama of art, from iconic pieces to the very latest contemporary artworks. Alongside its rich exhibition programme, the museum also stages events presented in a beautiful setting that invites interaction and relaxation.

The collection administered by Turku Art Society is one of the most comprehensive in Finland. Generally acknowledged to be a national treasure, the collection has a representative selection of works from the golden age of Finnish art from the turn of the 20th century, Finnish surrealism and pop art, as well as self-portraits. Today, the collection comprises over 7,600 works displayed in changing collection exhibitions and which travel regularly on loan.

A fine example of the national romantic style, the granite museum building is one of the most prominent landmarks in Turku and an attraction in its own right. Designed by professor Gustaf Nyström and completed in 1904, it was the second building in Finland built specifically as a museum. Funds for the construction of the museum were donated to the town of Turku by two tradesmen brothers from Turku, Ernst and Magnus Dahlström.
