Since 1 April 1910, the northeastern Berkersheim belongs as a district to Frankfurt am Main. After the districts Airport and Bahnhofsviertel Berkersheim is with about 3000 inhabitants the third smallest district of Frankfurt. Atypical for the city is its rather village character.

Berkersheim is located on the northern slope of the Berger Ridge. It extends to the Niddatal and is located about 7 km northeast of the city center and in the Frankfurt green belt. On the Berger back are numerous orchards, especially apple trees. In Berkersheim is u.a. the azure source, whose spring water is bottled and distributed as mineral water. Berkersheim is bordered by Frankfurt's districts Preungesheim, Frankfurter Berg, Bonames and Harheim, and in the east by Heilsberg, a district of Bad Vilbel.
