Lübeck

With about 82 million inhabitants, Germany is the most populous member state of the European Union. Germany's capital and largest metropolis is Berlin, while its largest conurbation is the Ruhr, with its main centres of Dortmund and Essen. The country's other major cities are Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Bremen, Dresden, Hannover, and Nuremberg. Germany is a vast and diverse country with 16 culturally unique states that have been politically united since 1871. Even within states there is often considerable cultural diversity.

It is the only state where 3 languages are used, namely German, Low German and Danish. Its capital city is Kiel; other notable cities are Lübeck and Flensburg. Schleswig-Holstein is mainly a maritime region, with ports on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Its largest port, Lübeck, is the historic capital of the Hanseatic League, which controlled commerce in much of northern Europe between the 13th and 17th centuries. And with these two seas: the wind, the watt, the waves, the tides here punctuate life. An ideal holiday spot for families, lovers of water sports and nature. Since the beginning of 2007, the Municipal Cinema in Lübeck has been operated exclusively by the non-profit subsidiary of Förderkreis Kommunales Kino Lübeck e.V. After the exit of the city administration from the cinema enterprise the purpose of the association is to be able to receive and continue to operate the venue in the premises of the city administration in Mengstraße. Through membership fees and additional support measures, the municipal cinema should continue to be able to provide citizens with a film program exclusively for cultural and educational purposes and at a socially acceptable admission price.
