One of the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings in Brussels! Added bonus: it's a museum to architect Victor Horta.

Who was Victor Horta you ask? Well, back in the day this guy was one of the founders of the Art Nouveau art movement and one of the best architects Brussels has ever seen. Whenever you walk by a beautiful house or hotel in Brussels, Horta may have just had something to do with it! Art Nouveau is an elegant art style super inspired by nature. This museum is a hidden gem of Brussels and is definitely not one to miss for art lovers!

This is no regular museum. You’re inside the home and studio of the architect Victor Horta. Come by the Saint-Gilles area of Brussels for your next artsy destination.

  • From personal letters and journals to furniture, the Horta Museum is full of life. Horta designed the house himself and made it full of beautiful spaces including an elegant dining room, stained glass, mosaics, and fancy staircases.
  • Your visit to the museum is self-guided. There’s some info panels and leaflets in English, French, and Dutch for more detail on each of the rooms. As of yet, there aren’t any audio guides available.
  • Exhibitions: besides being one of the most beautiful museums in the city, Horta Museum offers exhibits on Horta and Art Nouveau. They change from time to time, but those two themes are always present. If you want to learn more about Art Nouveau, the Horta Museum is a good place to start.
