The Masnago Castle, a medieval residence decorated with splendid fresco cycles of paintings and located in a large park, is home to the modern and contemporary art collection of the city of Varese. Among the artists Carlo Francesco Nuvolone and Pietro Antonio Magatti; the nineteenth century is represented, among others, to be protagonists of that century as Francesco Hayez, or the painters of Scapigli ... ature Tranquillo Cremona and Daniele Ranzoni. The twentieth century is introduced by pointillist paintings by Giacomo Balla, Emilio Longoni and Joseph Pellizza Volpedo. For years most recent date from the works of Renato Guttuso, Enrico Baj, Emilio Tadini.
