Chiesa di San Lorenzo - Varigotti

The church of San Lorenzo stands halfway up the promontory between Punta Crena and dominates the so-called "Baia dei Saraceni", the natural port of the Varigotti district of Finale Ligure, in the province of Savona. The current church is all that remains of an important and prosperous Benedictine monastic settlement of very ancient origins, as evidenced by the findings in the area of tombs dating back to the late imperial or Byzantine era. © iStock / FedevPhoto
