It was 1955 when Paolo and Ileana De Ferrari, descendants of a noble Genoese family, discovered for the first time the Biodola beach on the Island of Elba.

And it is immediately love at first sight for the crystalline water and the fine sand, for the delicate flowers that grow along the dunes and for the intense perfume of the mastic and cork trees in the air.

Among the very few guests on the beach, there is also Errol Flynn, the famous Hollywood star, who like them has stopped to enjoy the peace of this unexplored paradise.

Only ten years later, in 1966, Anthony Queen, Rita Hayworth and Rosanna Schiaffino arrived in the bay to shoot the film "L'Avventuriero" at the Tonnara dell'Enfola, the suggestive promontory opposite the Hermitage.

It is exactly here, on the Biodola beach, that Paolo De Ferrari had the intuition to create a classy structure to welcome guests from all over the world, looking for relaxation far from everything.

For over fifty years the De Ferrari family has been working with passion and dedication of the Hotel Hermitage, to which were added the two sister hotels, Hotel Biodola and Hotel del Golfo, which together with the Hermitage represent the most exclusive 'Island.

The De Ferrari family and all the staff have immediately embraced the philosophy of pampering guests with discretion and care from the first to the last day of their stay on Elba.

Offering hospitality with warmth and style here at the Hermitage is an imperative, because for us the guest is at the center of everything.

The luxury that you can experience in our hotels is a "new luxury", made of many small attentions, courtly gestures and a discreet but always present staff to fulfill your every wish.
