The more contemporary history of this winery develops around Capriolo, an evocative medieval borough where, in the 1970s, Giancarlo Lantieri was one of the first – with oenologist Cesare Ferrari – to make his first steps in the production of sparkling wines, now recognised and acclaimed as Franciacorta D.O.C.G. The Lantieri company nowadays produces about 160,000 bottles a year, of which 120,000 are Franciacorta D.O.C.G. and the rest are Curtefranca, cultivated in vineyards covering 20 hectares, all tended directly by the company and situated in the districts of Capriolo and Adro, in the lush green area known as Colzano, protected by the hills surrounding the Winery.
