Piazza del Popolo is a popular square in the Renaissance style of the city of Ascoli Piceno. It owes its name to the Palace of the Captains of the People, one of the main historic buildings, with its medieval crenellated tower, next to the historic Coffee Meletti, it surrounds the area.
The historian Antonio Rodilossi describes it as "one of the most harmonious squares in Italy, pedestrian area and the historical center." It is often called the living city and it is the place par excellence where ascolani meet and stroll.
