The Zompo Nature Reserve Lo Schioppo, is a protected area in the municipality falling Abruzzese of Morino (AQ) established by the Regional Law No. 24 of 05/29/87. The Municipality of Morino with Legambiente contribution manages the reserve since its establishment. The municipal government, has been involved for years in combining policies for safeguarding and enhancement of environmental resources with sustainable development projects, through actions that affect not only the territory of Morino but the entire Valle Roveto. The many initiatives implemented and in place, often highly innovative for the area and the socio-economic situation in which we work, tend to identify prospects for development and employment strongly linked with the territory and its population. Among the main courses of action we find interventions safeguarding and enhancement of the environmental co-financed by the European Community under the Life Nature program (first tranche 1997-2000 and second trance years 2003-2007), the project of the village recovery Morino Vecchio co-financed under the RDP program, interdisciplinary workshops and creative campus activated with funds Leader Plus. It was concluded in 2003 also a local Agenda 21 process, co-funded by the Ministry of Environment, which produced the drafting of a Local Action Plan through the implementation of participatory planning workshops and plenary Forum open to citizens and various carriers interests. The parking areas of the reserve are accessible every day of the week. In the days of Easter Monday, April 25, May 1, August and during the summer, the entrance is governed by a ticket of 1 € per person, except for children under 12, the elderly and the sixty. The tables and the fire points present on the parking areas can be booked (except for the day of August and the holidays listed above) that can be used by paying the rent 10 €. The areas are managed by the Reserve personnel present on the areas from morning to dusk.
