The administrative centre of Luxembourg City.

The City Hall was initially constructed in the Renaissance style in the 16th century, although it has undergone major renovations and expansion throughout the years. With its elaborate front containing exquisite masonry, beautiful sculptures, and stained glass windows, it is now a mixture of various architectural styles, including Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic. The bell tower of the City Hall, which rises to a height of over 50 metres and is topped with a copper roof and a weather vane in the form of a rooster, is one of the building's most prominent characteristics. A carillon made up of 25 bells is housed in the tower and rings regularly all day long.

The mayor's office, the city council chambers, and different city departments are all located inside City Hall, which also acts as the seat of the city's municipal administration. It is an established venue for exhibitions and cultural events, and it is accessible to the general public for guided tours. The structure received numerous updates and additions over the years, with the late 19th century seeing most of the major alterations.

The city council decided to construct a brand-new building in 1882 to take the place of the previous dilapidated one. The new structure, to be built in the Flemish Renaissance Revival design, was to be designed by architects Charles Arendt and Pierre Funck. German artillery bombardment during World War II badly damaged the structure, and the clock tower was destroyed. After the war, reconstruction began right away, and the clock tower was rebuilt in 1950.
