A lovely waterfall in the Mullerthal district, surrounded by beautiful greenery.
‘Kallektuffquell’ or ‘Kalktuffquelle’ translates to ‘Limestone Spring’ in English. Kalktuffquelle is a natural limestone spring located in the village of Consdorf, Luxembourg. The spring is created by an underground water system that runs through the local limestone rocks. A layer of calcareous tuff, a type of limestone, has grown around the spring over time as a result of the minerals in the water, forming a distinctive and stunning natural feature. Hikers and lovers of nature frequently travel to the spring and its surroundings.
To get to the spring, visitors can take a designated trail through the forest. Once there, they can observe the crystal-clear water bubbling up from the rocks and flowing into a small pond. A variety of plants and animals, including uncommon and endangered species, can be found in the region surrounding the spring. In addition to its natural beauty, Kalktuffquelle is significant both historically and culturally.
The spring has long been a source of drinking water and previously played a significant role in the community's economy. Nowadays, it is regarded as a beloved piece of Luxembourg's natural heritage and a symbol of the town’s character.
