Established in 1984 by enthusiasts of military history, collectors and volunteers, National Museum of Military History (MNHM) illustrates in the most realistic way possible and impartially, the course of WW2 including the battle of the Ardennes 1944-1945 by set typical scene dioramas scale 1/1, showing the two forces, American and German and illustrating best how soldiers and civilians lived this drame.Le MNHM , with its collections of weapons, vehicles and other equipment strives to illustrate the technical and logistical developments within the belligerent forces. This is the other to maintain national recognition for the dead among the allied veterans, primarily those of the American ranks who fought for the liberation of Luxembourg. As a gathering place of the Allied and German veterans MNHM is conceived as a catalyst and mediator of reconciliation by its commitments on the European and world stage.

The other main objective of MNHM involves covering the history of the Luxembourg Army with a focus on its future prospects in light of the commitments made by the Luxembourg Government to engage fully in NATO's efforts and EU to ensure conflict prevention and crisis management in the framework of the United Nations. This is the place today in voluntary military logic and history following his old, Luxembourg volunteers who risked or sacrificed their lives their commitment during the past wars.

The MNHM therefore pursues the aim of safeguarding the collective memory and to promote recognition of the country in commemorating the Veterans Affairs Luxembourg, voluntary allies ranks of 1st and 2nd World Wars and volunteers from the Korean War. A memory space honoring them is added to Showcase 'Grand Duke Jean' includes uniforms and equipment effects of the Grand Duke. The MNHM Documentation Centre collects a rich collection of books, documents, photographs, maps, audio-visual recordings etc. These documents are from American and German official archives on the one hand and grants, exchanges or other acquisitions. This wealth is publicly available. Many academics, history students, journalists, Luxembourg and abroad, to seek help from MNHM in the preparation of their own work, diplomas and reports. All expressed a desire to study the documents available.
