A modern art museum that showcases contemporary art from around the world.
The MUDAM opened its doors in 2006 and now features over 4,000 works of art by artists like Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, and more. Designed by architect I. M. Pei, and has a modern architectural style characterised by its simple geometric shapes, use of glass and steel, and clean lines.
Pei was influenced by the International Style, a movement in modern architecture that took place around the 1920s and 1930s. The building itself feels like being taken into a whole different world.
The Museum regularly hosts events, programmes, and exhibitions and is considered one of the most dynamic and innovative modern art museums in Europe. Guided tours are also available at MUDAM to help provide a better understanding of the art on display and the building’s architecture. The Museum also has a cafe and restaurant that supplies delicious food and drinks so consider taking a break during the day before getting back to the exhibits!
