**The history of this church is rooted in the cultural and religious heritage of Luxembourg. **

The church was built in the early 20th century and the architectural design is in Art Nouveau style. Art Nouveau was popular in Europe in the 20th century and is characterised by its flowing and intricate designs and often incorporated natural designs as well like vines, flowers, and leaves. The entrance to the Sacred Heart Parish is a large portal surrounded by sculptures of angels and carved stone columns.

The inside of the church is equally as impressive as the outside with tall arches, pews carved from wood with detailed designs. The altar is framed by sculptures of cherubs and angels. The stained glass windows have beautiful coloured designs that incorporate nature.

The church was built in response to the growing Catholic population in the city so the community could come and worship. To preserve the history and culture of the church it underwent renovations in the 20th century so it could remain an important religious institution for Luxembourg.

Travellers come from around the world to view the Sacred Heart Parish! Be sure to check the Mass schedule before arriving in case there is a service you would like to attend.
