**Discover the final planning room of Napoleon and his generals close to the Battle of Waterloo. **

There’s gunpowder and tension in the air. Can you still feel it? You’re walking the steps of Napoleon and his army on the evening of June 17th in 1815. The next day, Napoleon fell at the Battle of Waterloo. The Lion’s Mound looms over the battlefield to remember this historic event. But, did you know you can visit the place Napoleon spent the night before his biggest defeat?

Napoleon’s Last Headquarters recreates the scenery of 1815 and gives you all the history deets. Discover the room where Napoleon planned the battle with his generals. The museum is worth a stop if you’re heading over the field of the Battle of Waterloo as it’s only 4km away.

  • It doesn’t take too long to explore the museum - you’ll need about 1 hour to spare. There’s five rooms plus a nice garden, where you’ll find a statue of Napoleon himself. The garden also has a rare ossuary, where bones of the fallen soldiers of Waterloo were collected.
  • The first room goes over the campaign of 1815 and has some of Napoleon’s personal items that he used on his travels. Another room, the aide-de-camp, covers a lot of Napoleon's battle plans and is great for history buffs who want to get into the head of the Emperor and his generals.
  • The fifth room is mostly used to host temporary exhibits.
  • Back in 1815, the museum was actually a farm (Ferme du Caillou). The next morning, the farm was set on fire by the Prussian forces.
